چکیده

In this work we discuss an ontology design pattern for material transformations. It models the relation between products, resources, and catalysts in the transformation process. Our axiomatization goes beyond a mere surface semantics. While we focus on the construction domain, the pattern can also be applied to chemistry and other domains.

An Ontology Design Pattern and its use case for modeling material transformation

In this work we introduce a content Ontology Design Pattern (ODP) to model and reason about material transformations, a concept that occurs in many different domains ranging from computational chemistry, biology, and industrial ecology to architecture. We model the relationships between products, resources, and catalysts in the transformation process as well as the spatial and temporal constrai...

Pattern-based Ontology Transformation Service

Many use cases for semantic technologies (eg. reasoning, modularisation, matching) could benefit from an ontology transformation service. This service is supported with ontology transformation patterns consisting of corresponding ontology patterns capturing alternative modelling choices, and an alignment between them. In this paper we present the transformation process together with its two con...

Detection and Transformation of Ontology Patterns

As more and more ontology designers follow the patternbased approach, automatic analysis of those structures and their exploitation in semantic tools is becoming more doable and important. We present an approach to ontology transformation based on transformation patterns, which could assist in many semantic tasks (such as reasoning, modularisation or matching). Ontology transformation can be ap...

Tools for Pattern-Based Transformation of OWL Ontologies

The high expressivity of the OWL ontology language often allows to express the same conceptualisation in different ways. A simple example is the difference between ‘class-centric’ and ‘property-centric’ modelling style, such that the same notion is modelled as a class in the former (e.g. ‘Purchase’) and an object property in the latter (e.g. ‘bought from’). Such heterogeneity is an obstacle to ...

Pattern Switching in Soft Cellular Structures and Hydrogel-Elastomer Composite Materials under Compression

It is well known that elastic instabilities induce pattern transformations when a soft cellular structure is compressed beyond critical limits. The nonlinear phenomena of pattern transformations make them a prime candidate for controlling macroscopic or microscopic deformation and auxetic properties of the material. In this present work, the novel mechanical properties of soft cellular structur...
